FAQ & Troubleshooting

Common Questions and Answers!

General Issues

❓ Why does it take so long to load in the first time?

The first time you connect to the server, FiveM must download all custom resources & preload collisions (cars, maps, scripts, clothing, etc.).

  • This can take anywhere from 5–15 minutes, depending on your internet speed and how many resources the server has active at the time of loading in.

  • After the first load, your client caches these files. Future joins should be much faster unless new content is added.

Tips to improve loading speed:

  • Use a wired internet connection instead of WiFi. Aka Ethernet

  • Close background apps that use bandwidth (e.g., downloads, streams).

  • Ensure you have enough free disk space (FiveM caches can be several GB).

    • If you dont have enough disk space view CHANGE THIS guide on how to free some disk space up on your pc!.

Crashing Problems

❓ My game crashes on loading screen. What should I do?

Check your crash dump first. There should be a error. Depending on the error it may tell you how to fix it. If not, continue reading.

  1. Clear your FiveM cache:

    • Navigate to %localappdata%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data\cache.

    • Delete all files except the nui-storage and game-storage folders. If you use EVE or Menyoo or anything else that has to be put inside of \data\cache\subprocess back it up or reinstall after.

    • Relaunch FiveM.

  2. Verify GTA V files in Steam/Epic/Launcher.

  3. Update your GPU drivers (NVIDIA/AMD/Intel).

    1. Nvidia Can Be found herearrow-up-right

    2. AMD Drivers can be found herearrow-up-right

    3. Intel can be found herearrow-up-right

  4. Run FiveM as Administrator. (Doesnt work most of the time, but worth a shot.)

  5. Disable overlays (Discordarrow-up-right, Steam, NVIDIA ShadowPlay).

❓ I crash randomly in-game. Why?

Common causes:

  • Outdated or corrupted cache files.

  • Running too many background programs (causing memory issues).

  • Low system resources (RAM/VRAM).

  • Corrupted server files (usually fixed by reconnecting or clearing cache).

Fixes:

  • Clear cache (see above).

  • Lower GTA V graphics settings if your PC is struggling.

  • Check temps — overheating can trigger crashes.

  • If it only happens on our server and not others, let staff know.

Connection Issues

❓ I get stuck on “Connecting to server” forever. Or it Fails to load

  • Restart FiveM and try again.

  • Power cycle your router.

  • Clear cache.

  • Disable VPNs or proxies — they often cause connection loops.

  • If all else fails, try flushing DNS:

    • Open Command Prompt → type:

❓ I get kicked for "Timed Out" or "Client not responding".

  • Check your internet connection stability.

  • Avoid WiFi drops or mobile hotspots.

  • If you’re downloading or streaming, pause those while playing.

  • Use a ethernet cable

  • Check your Connection Speed to the server at https://wildcardroleplay.com/server/speedtest

Performance Issues

❓ My FPS is really low. How do I improve it?

  • Lower GTA V graphic settings.

  • Make sure you dont have resource intensive graphics.

  • If you are overclocking make sure there is no overheating / instability.

  • Close other apps (Chrome, Discord screen shares, etc.).

  • Enable NVIDIA Reflex / AMD Anti-Lag if supported.

  • Use DirectX 11 in GTA V settings. No 10 or 10.1

  • Clear cache occasionally to avoid bloated files.

Other Common Questions

❓ Why does my game freeze at “Awaiting scripts”?

  • It means FiveM is loading server scripts.

  • If it takes longer than 5 minutes, Restart your game and try again. If that doesnt work, clear your cache and retry.

  • Still stuck? Restart your PC and try again.

❓ How do I report a bug or crash to staff?

  • Take a screenshot of the error message (if possible).

  • Open a ticket in Discord with details:

    • What were you doing when it happened?

    • Did it happen once or multiple times?

    • Attach screenshots or crash dumps if available.
